During WWII, GIs stationed in Havana loved to frequent a joint nicknamed Sloppy Joes. Owner Jose (Joe) Abeal did not keep a very clean place, but poured a pretty mean drink, including his distinctive Ron cocktails. One sailor who liked to hang out there was Nat Nast.
