take a look at The HY Exclusive, a winter ball cap in cashmere produced exclusively for Hartford York by Wigens of Sweden. It's got a leather brim, quilted lining and earflaps that drop down when needed.
More cashmere ball caps from Wigens include The Gotland, handsome in Camel or Black, The Fleece Lined Ball Cap, a toasty winter cap in a blend of wool and cashmere that has a plush lining and drop-down earflaps for added cold weather protection.
Perhaps my favorite walking hat of this time of year is one from Woolrich, that great American brand with roots back to 1830. It's a trilby style stingy brim hat that's made of nubuck leather and is lined in traditional red/black buffalo plaid fabric. It fits great, looks great and provides a great deal of protection when it's nasty outside. The Leather Duckbill is one of my top picks in ivy caps this season, a really sleek cap from JB Stetson, featuring a sewn down duckbill brim and drop-down earflaps. The ivy cap produced by Christys' of London in a blend of wool and cashmere, called The Wales, is also way up on the favorites list. The pattern is a classic tartan plaid, the earflaps are warm, and the cushion front just right. It really is a prince of a men's cap.
There are leather caps you might like, such as The Byers 2, a rugged yet fashionable leather cadet cap from John B. Stetson. It's warmly lined with micro fleece and has drop-down earflaps for added warmth. Touches like the contrast leather binding on the 2 1/2 inch brim make this a real stand out. The Lambskin Envoy is a leather hat from Leinburd/Crown Cap with a shearling trim and quilt lining. It's one of our most popularly priced leather winter hats.
You'll see the same style with another Leinburd/Crown Cap winter hat, The Shearling Diplomat. This one is made of tough, plush sheepskin shearling and its design allows you to pull the fur trim down around your ears and neck for extra protection and warmth. I've always liked the look of The Persian Envoy, in genuine Persian lambs wool. Fully lined with a plush quilted lining, this men's hat also has a woolen pull-down ear band for added warmth (and it tucks out of sight when not needed).
When temperatures really plummet, there's nothing like a fur hat to snug you up. The Sheared All Beaver Trooper is so soft, smooth and warm, it defies description. Your ears will love the pull-down ear flaps secured by leather ties. You can also get a trooper that has a lambskin crown and mink fur, made by the same Canadian company, or indulge yourself in the most spectacular winter hat we have with The Mink Trooper made by my deep-frozen friends in Winnipeg (who know what cold really means).
