I love women's hats. Not on me, I hasten to add, but summer straw hats and sun visors for women are spectacular when placed anywhere near a woman, (but especially on her head); in fact, they're nearly as perfect as the women who [more]

wear the straw cowboy hats and broad brimmed sunhats. Not only are raffia chapeaus and sun-visors practical (as protection from damaging sun exposure), they're earth-friendly and comfortably lightweight. Plus they're never ever boring--and you can mix-n-match them with the best raffia totes and handbags in the business (hint: these would be of Helen Kaminski fame). Hat styles in straw run from casual hats like the crocheted Sun Up and crushable lite-line Balmy Palm raffia (with a really cute palm tree design trim) to the 'be-still-my-heart' Borsalino Panama hat, The Andrea, in a class entirely its own. For a completely different look, there's the two-tone Abby from Scala, a dressy western hat with rose appliques: it's fancy, fun, and speaks volumes about the wearer. Same goes for that unisex Runaway Cowboy Hat, a toyo twist on the classic western.
Probably my all-time favorite large brim women's sun hat from Helen Kaminski is The August, that divine raffia braid and silk sateen creation. It's truly another handcrafted miracle of a topper, using (as she does) only the natural fibers of silk and leaves of the raffia palm tree (harvested ecologically so that the tree is unharmed). The crown is swathed in an Off-White silk sateen ribbon, gently tied at back, and the large shapeable brim is perfect in Natural.
Ah, ladies in sun hats! There's simply no finer sight in this world.
