First there's a Hartford York exclusive hat this season from Borsalino. Called The Lombardo, it's an outstanding parasisal fedora in Turquoise Blue with a ribbon trim in color Pumpkin. Be prepared for compliments in this lightweight and comfortable stingy snap brim dress hat. Then there's the white-on-white Borsalino Ponzio, made in Italy of superior parasisal for an incredibly lightweight summer hat. The pinch front fedora has a snap brim that's just stingy at two inches and both the sweatband and ribbon trim are a fine grosgrain fabric.
Making an appearance for the first time at Hartford York is NYC designer, Tracy Watts. We've got The Vinnie for you, a wonderful unlined toyo fedora with a 1x1 weave and bound brim. The stingy brim hat is hand-blocked in the Tracy Watts New York workshop and features a ribbon trim and sweatband as well as a decorative button tether. It's available in three versions, two of which are a Natural hat body with Navy or Brown trim, and the other a Grey hat body with Brown ribbon band and bound edge.
From the Carlos Santana collection, there's a pork pie hat that I think may be the coolest hat of the year. Called The Healer, it's a boldly woven shantung hat in black and white with a striking embroidered grosgrain trim in a beat design and Milagro pin. Another new hat from the line by the legendary guitarist is The Shifter, an open weave Panama hat with contrast woven stingy brim, tooled leather sweatband, and ribbon with Indian print overlay. Made exclusively for HartfordYork.com, The Santana Panama Special is a magnificent stingy brim hat that satisfied customers regularly call "awesome." The finely woven and vented body has a two-inch brim with bound edge. The three pleat trim is leather and grosgrain ribbon with pick stitching. Look for the Santana lion pin as the finishing touch on this unique piece.
Biltmore is known for its dress hats, and offers a sleek pinch front Panama fedora called The Vegas, made in Texas. The upturned brim measures a stingy 1 1/2 inches, and the grosgrain ribbon band with bow has a Biltmore pin. Its Panama pork pie hat is blocked to perfection, and has a superb silhouette with its very stingy brim.
