The winter hats and fall caps in our Scala collection for women run the gamut from wool berets and fur troopers, to one-size-fits-all leather newsboys, like The Emily in Midnight or Cherry. You just know my eyes watered when I looked upon The Winter Chill for the first time, so taken aback was I by the beauty of the genuine rabbit fur trooper. However, like the hat, I too am a trooper (although not actually made out of fur), and somehow maintained a semblance of control. The same cannot be said, unfortunately, regarding my viewing of the line of sun hats and visors from Scala Women's Hats. Oh, no! I cried like a baby. Whether in sewn ribbon, raffia or cotton, these hats are always highly exciting and fashionable, while still being functional and easy to wear (thus the tears).

Look at The Lauren, for example, a paper braid beach hat with a face-shading five-inch brim; or that sweet hat featured in Women's World magazine (which hat I called Women's World). It's an ultra-feminine crocheted sun hat and quite unique in that the brim is finished with tiny shells. Even with its generous four-inch brim, The Veronica is a highly refined summer hat in paper braid, with slim faux leather trim and wooden toggle. There's a splash of western styling in the textured Gretta, a cowboy hat nicely trimmed with somebody's leather belt. (Not mine.) Another warm weather cowboy hat is the hand-braided Runaway. This is a gender-neutral toyo topper, thus likely a politically correct and very healthy piece of headwear. More vegetable lids come at you with The Tropical Western, the hat that was featured in Country Home magazine. Woven from processed husks of corn, The Tropical's offered in a sea of colors (and at a price that'll let you buy every hue!). Back by demand is The Abby, that dressy cowboy hat just for women. It's a fun two-tone Western hat, soft in toyo, and adorned with a chain band and pretty rose appliques.
In addition to seriously superior sun visors (including The Sandy in paper braid with its squint-stopping five-inch brim and the two-tone Gina Visor), we've got upscale cotton canvas hats, like The Caroline, and The Big Brim, a broad brim sun hat (this one pictured in County Home magazine). One of my all-time favorite women's summer hats from Scala is the simple bucket profile they caught in the brimmed Colors of the Rainbow canvas hat.
Gorgeous hats year-round, famous name, great prices. And teary-eyed me! Yay.
