There's a linen cardigan I'm holding for you. It's absolute perfection: five button, modified V-neck with French collar, ribbing at wrists and hem. It was crafted in Ireland by the same artisans who handknit the Ferbane Linen Sweater (in pure white or light green) and The Crew Neck Cotton Sweater in natural. Like their woolen caps and sweaters, each item is actually knit with love. (I think they love the craft, not you, but still). The alpaca wool used in the colder-weather Inis Meain sweaters, hats and scarves is deemed a luxury fiber: longer, stronger and silkier than wool, so you can rest assured that the quality of the yarn used in their linen knits for their spring/summer wear is just as carefully chosen for look, feel and durability.

A little bit about the Inis Meain Knitting Company. Its base is a tiny island of 200 inhabitants off the west coast of Ireland, where it makes great use of the local skills. For centuries, the fishermen of Inis Meain have worn garments knitted by the women of the island, and this proud custom of hardy, lasting handmade apparel serves as the source of inspiration for the clothing made today. Look for the logo of the upturned currach: it's the islanders carrying a fishing boat up from the unprotected shore at the edge of the Atlantic.
Tradition refined by time and technology, inspired by land and sea. Owners Aine and Tarlach de Blacam send their best wishes: Go maire tu is go gcaithe tu e. (May you live long to wear it).
