Men's fur felt hats have never looked better than those from the Couture Collection of Rod Keenan, like The Montmartre. This hat is a classic silhouette with variable brim, crafted from long-hair beaver fur felt and made one at a time in New York. Like the stingy brim JFK dress hat (and his Bow Tie trilby with its tall 4 1/2 inch crown), The Montmartre is offered exclusively at HartfordYork.com. Another dress hat in 100% beaver fur felt is called The Ultimo, a Borsalino fedora which is very much like the Stingy Ultimo, except for the slightly larger brim. I don't know how you'll choose between the two, so I'll give you something completely different to consider: The Indiana Jones Pure Beaver Fedora, simply called The Indy. This definitive fedora was issued in an extremely limited number and as an officially licensed collector's edition. We have just a few pieces left, so don't miss out.

Although most hats in fur felt tend to be fedoras, we do have other styles in the material. The Ascot comes to mind, a genuine fur felt men's cap, very impressive with its suede finish and boasts a comfortable lambskin sweatband. The bowler, that most traditional hat for a most traditional gentleman (called The Chaplin after you-know-who), is another fur felt hat from Christys'. Although the Goorin hat is called a fedora, I don't know that I necessarily agree: the shape is bucket-like (can't call it a cloche and remain a manly man); and the turn-down brim is porkpie stingy. However, it's got a center dent and anyway it's trimmed with a fabulous pleated blue and brown vintage tie band and antique brass Cassel pin, so who cares? How 'bout we agree to call it a great fur felt hat and leave it at that.
There's no arguing with Mr. Green. (Or with The Donald, a stingy brim fedora with vintage silk trim). The Fred is an unlined pinch front fedora with a sueded fur felt finish. It's hand made in LA with a contrasting bound edge, 2 inch trim, and even a multi color ribbon sweatband. Looks pretty nice in olive green, I'd venture to say. I wouldn't take issue with The Frank either. This fedora has a snap stingy brim and is offered only in Steel/Black. Take it or leave it (and run fast if you leave it).
Stetson offers a top-of-the-line dress fedora for men and they call it The Firenze. Made from a blend of sovereign quality beaver and rabbit fur felt, this hat has a smooth, silk-like finish and sports a grosgrain band with feather, comfort sweatband and satin lining. Very impressive. Of course, Stetson has other very impressive dress hats too. The Pullman, for instance, is a limited edition beaver fur felt telescope crown fedora that'll pretty much blow you away with its tooled leather sweatband, the satin lining with embroidered Stetson crest and its bound edge with 2 inch brim that can be worn up or down. But if it's not a Stetson hat that grabs you, it might be a fur felt Makins fedora or a Scala that you'll fancy. And if one of those doesn't do it, perhaps it'll be a Peto or one of the Biltmore porkpies or even a Milano or Greeley western dress cowboy hat. Thank goodness I have the enormous business acumen to keep them available (because I believe there is pleasing everyone). I've even had the foresight to include that rollable, packable velour fur felt broad brim hat for women from one of the world's great headwear designers, Helen Kaminski. The Eros, with its fine leather trim unlined, has the authentic signature Kaminski pin attached.
You know, I love me nearly as much as I love me hats.
