The fedoras in fur felt and wool felt for the Fall/Winter 2014 season, along with our collection of Spring/Summer fedoras for men, are ready for your order now at Hartford York, and they are magnificent. Take The Barnstormer, for instance, that new and truly fabulous fur felt fedora from Stetson. Done in a perfect shade of Caribou, this dress hat with a raw edge brim has a slim ribbon trim, giving the hat a
Western style feel. There's also The Downs, from Stetson's Royal collection, another fedora crafted from fur felt with a teardrop and snap brim.
Borsalino has a new hat for you this year, and it's a wonderfully textured fur felt fedora with a melusine finish. Called The Traveler, this Navy Blue hat is unlined, has an open crown and is trimmed with a grosgrain ribbon band with bow. It really is a knock out. We've brought back some Borsalino favorites as well, including The Cervelt, a unique and extravagant dress hat made from a blend of fur that includes the soft underside fur from the New Zealand red deer. One customer who reviewed the fedora said:
By far the nicest hat that I have ever owned. Incredibly soft material that keeps very well its shape. Very distinctive color.
The Borsalino Como also gets great reviews like: "it fits perfect, it looks awesome!!!" and "This hat was a present for my husband. He is most satisfied." Then there's The Balducci, a stingy brim fedora from the Italian hatters. This fur felt dress hat features a grosgrain ribbon trim set off with a diagonal striped silk fabric. The Stingy Ultimo also makes a return-by-demand appearance, this fully lined 100% beaver fur felt fedora is a picture of sophisticated style.
A trio of New York City-based designers bring their fedoras to the table this season, including some that are exclusive to Hartford York, such as the one from Eugenia Kim's Mr. Kim line. Called The Francis, this unlined hat is in brushed wool felt, has a just-stingy two inch bound brim and is trimmed with a textured leather band with bow. There's also a pair of fur felt fedoras from Tracy Watts of Brooklyn. Both the The Bed-Stuy Fedora and The Bed-Stuy Derby feature two inch bound brims, contrast color keepers and grosgrain ribbon trim with bows and pins. Each is lined with satin and fitted with a grosgrain fabric sweatband. The only trouble you'll have is picking which of the two hats to order!
Makins is of course the other New York hatter, who brings you new fedoras this year including The Belmont, with its very stingy, upturned bound brim, and The Derby, a dress hat that features a navy blue band and bow and double piping. For something different, take a look at a hat Makins calls The Hollywood. In a color that can only be called Butterscotch, this fur felt fedora is trimmed with a brown ribbon band and bow with sideways feather. An exquisite touch.
Fedoras from Bailey of Hollywood are always a cause for raucous celebration, and the stingy brim Casson will have you in best form. The wool felt fedora boasts a sweet center crease crown and snap brim, with its stand-out color called Sulphur. You can order The Perry too. It's a Lanolux fedora (which starts with superior wool fibers, and uses a special finish for a suede feel, excellent shape retention and durability) in Ash and has a leather sweatband with fancy edge. Like all Bailey hats, including The Barr and The Benny (the last a Cashlux fedora) it is made in USA.
