Cowboy hats, like that blast from the past Stetson Stratoliner, now available in fur felt as well as the popular milan braid rendition of this classic western hat, whether they're dress hats or more casual straw hats, are worn throughout the year for purposes that range from purely ultilitarian or work-related to style--they look great. a man's sense of identity. Perhaps that's because western hats are so closely identified with certain cultural and lifestyle aspects of the early years in the American West. There's no ambiguity in cowboy hat styles, whether you've got a classic Stetson hat like The Open Road in straw or a dude hat like the one from Henschel in oiled cow hide on your head.
With the fur felt rendition of The Open Road Fur Felt, you're getting a true classic dress western hat, the one cowboys turn to when they need a new hat. Made famous by LBJ so many years ago, The Open Road has a four-inch crown with center dent and a narrow 2 3/4 inch brim. In other words, it's a gentleman's hat.
We've brought back the limited edition of The Open Road in straw by Stetson, and it's a rare piece indeed. Never before has this western hat been produced with such an exceptionally fine and tightly woven body. The brim measures the same 2 3/4 inches as the fur felt version and has a center dent with a narrow grosgrain ribbon trim and leather sweatband for comfortable wearing.
You'll be pleased to note that we carry another warm weather cowboy hat. From Toby Keith, there's The Outback, a cowboy hat in toyo trimmed with a braided band, signature concho and leather chin strap. It's a great brand name hat at a price that just can't be beat and it's available throughout the year.
