There's an Anthony Peto newsboy that is just the fullest, nicest linen cap I've ever seen, bar none. You know it's made in Paris (because it's called La Louvre) and the cloth is substantial, even grainy. It's a cotton-lined newsboy with a snap brim and so worth the price. That's not to say that the stingy brim trilby hats from Peto don't sing loudly of spring and sunshine -- they do! In fact, at first I thought it was me in the shower again. Anthony uses the richly textured 100% linen La Tuillerie too (and even adds a contrast lining) with his fabulous walking hat for men, available in four colors of perfection. You might lose your head over another very cool hat from Paris, this one called La Bastille. The pinch front hat (also a stingy brim) is crafted from fur felt embossed with a rocky black relief pattern. There's another fur felt fedora you might want to hug: it's called The Peto Stingy Brim, an unlined feather-lite men's hat featuring a soft brushed texture, bound edge, and grosgrain trim. Truly a statement in understatements.

It's not all quiet elegance, though. Check out the smashing "big apple" newsboy from Anthony Peto. Named The Versailles, the fully lined cap with its 12 inch diameter captures that "Parisian artist" look in a smart all-over herringbone. The Left Bank newsboy is another full-style cap, this one in worsted wool. It fits straight on or you can let it flop to one side, beret-like, if you prefer. Dark solid shades, lined in cotton, snap front: this little package from France is le meilleur d'Anthony Peto, if you know what I mean. (Call me if you need une peu d'aide in the translation. Or just try it on--you'll get it.)
